Leighton Meester Is Lovestruck by Vera Wang’s New Fragrance

Allure har gjort en kort intervjuv med Leighton och här är den :)

Who better than Vera Wang, the woman who has designed wedding dresses for nearly every celebrity (including three for newlywed Kim Kardashian), to create a fragrance based on falling in love? Moving away from her Princess franchise, Wang has recently launched Lovestruck, a scent inspired by a modern twist on the tale of Romeo and Juliet, and the moment you fall madly in love. “Vera and I discussed that feeling at length,” said Gossip Girl’s Leighton Meester, who is the face of the campaign. “It’s that feeling when you’re first falling for someone—exciting and terrifying, fun and sexy, romantic—and all those things at the same time. That’s what this fragrance evokes.”

Last night, at the launch event for the fragrance here in New York City, I got the chance to hang out with Meester at The James Hotel to talk about the scent, and the other things that leave her lovestruck.

So what is it about Lovestruck that’s so special? It evokes a sexy, flirty feeling without feeling fussy in any way—it’s just fun. You can’t really put your finger on exactly what makes it sexy. There’s a woodiness to it, and vanilla, florals, and a bit of citrus mixed all together. But Vera is the special element—from the campaign to the gown and the bottle, it’s all her.

Could you see Blair wearing this fragrance? She’s been going through a lot of love issues recently. Well, she’s always going through love issues [laughs]. I definitely could. It’s classic, but still young, so I think it would suit her perfectly.

Besides this perfume, what beauty products do you love? I really like this stuff I just tried, called Glam Glow, it’s a mud face mask that leaves your skin glowing. I love anything that’s delicious, like body scrubs from Archipelago, as well as La Mer The Body Lotion. In terms of makeup, all I really use when I do my own is an eye shadow palette from Chanel—I don’t know the name, but it has really pretty brown and gold. It’s hard to mess up when you use it because it’s just so beautiful.

Do you love getting beauty treatments? Yes! Whenever I can, and I love how you feel like you’re doing something sort of productive yet relaxing at the same time. I go to Phyto Universe on the Upper East Side, where they do all types of services, but there’s this one for your hair where they look at it under a microscope and tell you everything that you’re doing wrong [laughs]. Then they give you this amazing treatment, and your hair feels like silk afterward.

What is your favorite love song? “Harvest Moon” by Neil Young. I’ve just been listening to it all summer, so I’d say I’m lovestruck.

Love story? Pride & Prejudice, but I also love The Age of Innocence by Edith Wharton. It’s a sad love story.

Love poem? It’s a Yeats poem, “When You’re Old.” It’s romantic and sort of bittersweet, but really beautiful.

Movie about love? Annie Hall. I think Woody Allen also captures that exact feeling of falling head over heels.
