Love it or hate it, Diana Payne (Elizabeth Hurley) is makin’ her way back to the Upper East Side in Gossip Girl Season 5, Episode 19, “It Girl, Interrupted,” and she’s bringing one mega-agenda with her!
In fact, executive producer Josh Safran reveals to TVGuide that Diana’s plan has not one but two parts.
Her main objective? Unmasking the real Gossip Girl! “That is definitely at the forefront of these episodes,” Josh says. “We will learn the secret that Gossip Girl has had on Diana.”
Please tell us it pertains to her photo stashed in the file on Bart Bass, because that thing came outta nowhere and then was dropped like a bad habit! Quit playing games with our hearts and minds, y’all.
The second part of Diana’s plan? Taking back the reins at The Spectator – while also trying to steal Nate’s (Chace Crawford) heart! (We might suggest she not come between Nate and his recently-bolstered editor-ego – you know, the one that fired Serena – but, uhh, best of luck to her).
What that might mean for Nate and his current lady-love Lola Charlie Rhodes (Ella Rae Peck) remains to be seen, though it gives us the feeling that the UES-eschewing Lols will have one more reason to head back to her simpler life in Brooklyn…
Lily van der Woodsen isn't the only one worried about her new Brooklyn leanings. Is her Blair's (Leighton Meester) new Brooklyn boyfriend causing her UES status to depreciate? All of those trips to that Eastern borough are wearing down your Wasp shine, B! That or... Maybe Ms. Waldorf just wants her minions back? As we've already seen on tape, Penelope will be making an appearance later this season.
In the just-released official synopsis for Gossip GirlSeason 5, Episode 21, “Despicable B,” Blair Waldorf hatches a plan to regain control of her Upper East Side kingdom. Thanks to the episode’s title, we have a hunch this plan isn’t entirely kosher — could it involve Chuck Bass (Ed Westwick) perhaps? We know Chuck will soon reach out to Blair for help with his mommy problem, but maybe there's another reason for all of these Chair sightings? Only time will tell.
Blair (Leighton Meester) feels like her Upper East Side status might be slipping away and devises a plan to assure that doesn’t happen. Meanwhile, Lily (Kelly Rutherford) throws a family gathering – including William (guest star Baldwin), Carol (guest star Sheila Kelly) and Lola (guest star Ella Rae Peck) – in an attempt to prove the van der Woodsen family is as united as ever. Finally, Nate (Chace Crawford) digs into Diana’s (guest star Hurley) past and is surprised by what he discovers.
ELIZABETH HURLEY GUEST STARS — To celebrate their official coming out as a couple, Blair (Leighton Meester) and Dan (Penn Badgley) host a glamorous British-themed Salon, including guests Julian Tepper and Jenna Gribbon (founders of The Oracle Club). Lola (guest star Ella Rae Peck) lands the audition of a lifetime, but Gossip Girl may have other plans for the Upper East Side’s latest It Girl. Meanwhile, Lily (Kelly Rutherford) and Rufus (Matthew Settle) disagree over the best way to handle the Ivy (Kaylee DeFer) situation, and Serena (Blake Lively) and Diana (Hurley) face-off over secrets they both would prefer remain secrets. Chace Crawford and Ed Westwick also guest star.

Gossip Girl" will likely be renewed for a shortened sixth and final season, according to an individual close to the production.
The CW drama is expected to return for a reduced number of episodes like fellow CW drama "One Tree Hill" did for its final season, the individual said.
A spokesman for the network said that CW has not yet made a decision about picking up any of its scripted shows for next year.
Given its low ratings, the show is seen as perpetually on the bubble. "Gossip Girl" averaged 1.7 million viewers, and a 1.9 rating in the women 18-34 demo, this year. That's a far cry from the 2.35 million viewers the show averaged in its debut season.

Who better to recap each week’s new episode of Gossip Girl than author Cecily von Ziegesar? In this week’s edition, she talks about how much she loved CeCe’s Irish wake and makes a plea for Dan to get a new haircut. Find out all her favorite moments in “The Princess Dowry” (Season 5, Episode 17).
So much happened last night, my mind’s still all atwitter (pun totally intended)! Some might say it was predictable. And sure, I sorta guessed CeCe was going to leave the whole shebang to Ivy, and I sorta guessed that Dr. van der Woodsen would turn out to be Lola’s dad, and I guessed a really long time ago that Georgina wasn’t the real Gossip Girl, she was just filling in. I guessed the what of it, but not the how of it. And boy, was it entertaining to watch it all unfold! You dig?
Sorry, I’ve had way too much caffeine this morning.
Here are some of my favorite moments from "The princess Dowry":
Favorite scene- CeCe’s Irish wake. Totally inspired. Loved the ridiculous Irish band playing constant fiddle-y Irish jigs. Loved Serena, Lily, and Rufus all slumped in chairs in front of the coat of arms bedecked coffin, sipping Irish whiskey and wondering if their lives could get any more bizarre, while the help from Cece’s pampered past—the butcher, her gardener, her driver—had a whale of a time celebrating her passing. Favorite line—Blair to Estee, the plummy British-accented royal secretary appointed to her by Louis’s court: “You slimy little limey.”
Favorite absolute slime-bucket—Pinky-ringed and black shiny shirt-wearing Billy Baldwin as Dr. van der Woodsen, Serena’s daddy, and as it turns out, Lola’s. Well, Serena always wanted a sister.
Favorite bad hair—Dan’s. Why does no one fix it? Maybe he has to play an old-fashioned sword-wielding guy in tights in some upcoming PBS drama. It might actually look better if he tied it in a pretty black velvet bow. Or maybe Blair—since she loves him—will loan him one of her old headbands.
Favorite good hair—Ivy’s. Her long strands were toned a slightly deeper, caramel hue last night that I really dig. She’s not just another blond anymore. Money suits her.
Favorite outfit—Georgina’s black open-breasted, high-collared dress. So wickedly dominatrix-y, and so perfectly accessorized with a high, tight ponytail. She rocked it like no other evil bitch could.
That just about sums it up. I leave you with this image: Blair and Dan all a-smooch in the Humphrey’s Brooklyn loft, when suddenly the door bangs open and there are Lily and Rufus with all their luggage, having been kicked out of their Upper East Side penthouse by Ivy. It might get kind of cozy. And Lily might get sort of lost on those uncharted Brooklyn streets. But at least Rufus can go back to making breakfast without those meddling chefs and caterers always getting in the way.

Hmm! Serena’s new life as a gossip columnist leads GG to give up her reins to S and then all the UESers end up hating her?! Okay, we know, that’s not likely (but it’d be FUN! Serena’s got SCOOP FOR DAYS, mannn!). Surely something scandalous is on the way – and we.can’t.wait!!
